What if my Building contains Lead Paint? Many building built prior to 1978 contain lead paint. To protect the public from lead paint poisoning, the EPA has established protocols for contractors to follow when conducting renovation in residential apartment buildings.
Cooperative and Condominium board of management should have their building tested prior to any renovations (Check with your property manager, they are usually very knowledgeable and can order tests)
- Renovations companies must be certified by the EPA
- Notify residents as per guideline established by the EPA
- Contractors must comply with the RRP Rule (Renovate Right Rules)
